Skylark--Larger than a Sparrow but smaller than a Starling.Breeds in open grassland.on upland heaths and coastal marshes.Feeds on plant and animal material, bugs, moths beetles etc.Wordsworth described this little bird as" an ethereal minstrel of the sky". Shelley "a blithe spirit showering the earth with a rain of melody". Its suspended warbling song, which can last for five minutes without a pause,is usually delivered when the bird is flying high in the air, often nearly out of sight.I have never managed a flight shot of this species, but for the 1st time this year(2009),I have taken these shots outside the local RSPB hide,in the scrubland.
